Penguins - Amazing Facts about Penguins

Penguins live in Antartica and along cold coastal areas of south America,New zealand,Australia and south Africa. Penguins spend most of their time in the icy waters of Antartica catching fish,squid, and krill. But they climb onto the land to breed and to raise their young.

  • Emperor penguins journey up to 100 miles(160 km) across ice to their rookery.
  • The male doesn't eat during the whole time he keeps the egg warm.He looses about 50 pounds(23kg) in weight.
  • penguins cannot swim backward.
  • penguins swim but don't get wet because they have two layers of thick, overlapping,oily feathers that keep out water.
